Summit’s Core Focus

“To build a great company with exceptional people to preserve and restore our natural environment.”

A Core Focus is the combination of a company’s WHY and WHAT. The why is our purpose, cause, and passion. The what is our niche, or what we do better than anyone else. The Core Focus sets our bearings and is the internal compass that keeps us from drifting off course, helps remove distractions and keeps us focused on our destination.

We bring our purpose, cause and passion to the oil and gas, energy and utilities, resources and mining and industrial sectors in an effort to restore our natural environment.

Summit’s Core Focus

Our Values

Our core values form the foundation on which we perform work and conduct ourselves. They are the deeply ingrained principles that guide actions and serve as cultural cornerstones.

Respectful

At our core we are a group of people with common goals striving daily to deliver uncommon service. Regardless of our indisputable technical and professional skills, Summit people are kind, considerate, unpretentious, and respectful in all that we do.

We never assume we have all the answers or that there is only one solution. We are respectful of our clients’ suggestions, thoughts, and ideas; we collaborate on the best solution.

We are happiest when our clients are winning. We ask our clients, “What does winning look like to you?” Once that is understood, we have the clarity we need to move forward.

In all actions, Summit people believe in, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

These actions foster a respectful workplace and healthy relationships with our clients, stakeholders and colleagues.

Summit people know that a position doesn’t entitle you to respect. Having integrity and being trustworthy does.

Leaders within our company are the first to give their team credit for success and are grateful to be surrounded by self-disciplined coworkers. As someone graciously said, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.”

Collaborative

Summit people thrive on collaboration. Collaboration is the action of working with someone else (or several people) to produce or achieve something.

Our workflow involves working with systems and procedures. In every action there is a consequence that affects the next person in the workflow. Summit people execute their tasks with utmost diligence to optimize the work of others in the value chain.

We understand the truth of the cliché, There is no ‘I’ in TEAM”, and Together · Everyone · Achieves · More.

At Summit, we know that collaboration is essential, and we expect it internally and externally with trusted partners to drive efficiencies for our customers’ projects and to position ourselves for success and future opportunities.

Growth Oriented

We must grow, for if we stop growing we begin to decline.

From our most junior persons’ aspirations to become accredited professionals to the most senior leaders’ desires to take on bigger and more complex projects, Summit is committed to growing.

For our career paths to grow and continue to evolve we must expand the business. Our company’s growth will come from integrating more of our services with existing customers, value selling to new customers and by means of strategic acquisition, in Canada and around the world.

People at Summit want to achieve both personal growth and company growth. We must all continue to improve ourselves and to support personal development across Summit.

Growth oriented people are self-motivated and driven to succeed. They are disciplined in their actions and appreciate, respect and embrace standard process. If the process is missing or broken, they will create one or be inclined to fix it.

At Summit, our people appreciate being measured, goal setting and working towards common goals. Clear metrics provide clarity of purpose and help to define where we should direct our energy.

Pragmatic

With the safety of our people always in the forefront of our activities, we manage projects sensibly and realistically, and emphasize practical rather than theoretical considerations.

At Summit a solution, decision or plan must meet specific criteria. It must be safe, and it must be compliant. It should have taken stakeholder sensitivities into consideration. It has to be reasonable and align with past experiences. And it has to feel right and be ethical. This is the Summit definition of pragmatism.

We believe in the concepts of Less is More, and Simple is Smart.

Without clear rationale, servicing beyond environmental compliance is fiscally irresponsible.

We implement new technology where practical and where it will amplify the value of a core service.

Believing in or taking a path that is unrealistic, idealistic, or impractical would not be in alignment with Summit’s value of being pragmatic.

Our People

We are personable, authentic, dependable and passionate about everything we do. Clients like working with Summit for three reasons:
